Anne Valentino - Console Innovator
In the world of Lighting Technology, Anne Valentino is a widely known figure. From her many years working at ETC and Strand Lighting, Anne has made considerable contributions in the progression of Light board consoles.
Anne Valentino received a Master of Fine Arts in technical theatre from the University of Wyoming. After which she started working for Strand Lighting, assisting in the development of consoles such as the Light Palette in the late 1980's.
Later into the early 1990's, ETC offered Anne Valentino a job to work on developing a new Console that took from the Light Pallet and built up on. Anne worked closely with Broadway designers and programmers to receive feedback on features they liked to eventually co-design the Obsession console.
The Obsession came at a perfect time as the Light Palette was phasing out and became a huge draw for Broadway Designers, as programmers were able to tech a show in a similar way as the Light Palette that was previously popular in the market.
Later in 2001 Anne then started working on the first EOS console. This was a console that was built from the ground up, they wanted it to feel somewhat like an obsession, but this console was going to be a fully integrated console. They wanted to implement touch screen functionality into the console without the need of a designer to look away from the stage. Button modules was eventually integrated into the system so you could have a touchscreen like system but have tactile buttons so a designer doesn't have to look down. The EOS launched and marked the road for many more consoles in the EOS family series to come, paving an important milestone for modern Lighting Console technology.
